Thread are a female team of specialist conservation architects, who tackle complex building restoration projects.
Often utilising and honouring historic techniques, Thread work to bring lost buildings back from the brink. Thread are based in Wellington, Somerset and deliver full architectural services – design development of new design, conservation proposals and detailed and bespoke specifications.
The Tone Works Mill in Wellington, Somerset was one of two sites in the area and was part of the woolen manufacturing ’empire’ of Fox Brothers & Co. now reinvented and relocated in the town of Wellington itself.
The historic ToneWorks site in Wellington has received a £20 million boost to aid with restoration efforts – part of the leveling-up fund. The work is also being partly funded by Historic England.
The first stage in the restoration is to restore the roof – this is where out 3D technology helps various stakeholders see the current condition, plan the repairs and work out how extisting materials can be reused. All from the simplicity of a cloud-based 3D model from our partners at Trendspek
